LP CoverLaura Pergolizzi, otherwise known by her stage name "LP", is one of the great songwriters/performers of our current day. She's easy to spot in her current hometown of LA, wearing her characteristic black jeans and blazer with a white shirt and skinny tie, and a head of short, super curly black hair. But don't be fooled by her rugged rock and roll look. when she opens her mouth to sing, you will become instantly drawn to the purity and passion of her music.

After Pergolizzi graduated from High School, she moved to Long Island, NY and adopted the name "LP". At this time, David Lowery from the band "Cracker" saw her performing and produced her debut album, Heart-Shaped Scar in 2001. It wasn't until 2006 that LP's music really caught on, though. The singer/songwriter appeared at the music festival, South by Southwest and sparked a bidding war amongst major labels.

LP has gone on to write for many major artists such as the Backstreet Boys, Rihanna, Heidi Montag, Christina Aguilera, and many more. After signing a deal with Warner Brothers in 2011, LP's "Into the Wild" was used in a national television ad campaign for Citibank. Also of note, in 2012, Martin Guitar made LP their first female Ambassador.

There is so much to be said for LP's stunning talent, but we highly encourage you to listen to her music and see for yourself. While it was such a hard decision to choose just one track to spotlight this week, we decided on one of her most recent singles — "Muddy Waters".

"Muddy Waters" is LP's debut on Vagrant Records, with whom she will release her next full-length album. This track has a completely different energy than anything that she has previously released and is full of raw, gritty, and earnest energy. It sounds as if it could be the next lead track on a Peter Jackson movie. While we unfortunately don't get to hear her majestic whistling on this track, it is full of deep, rich harmonies that are haunting and mysterious, yet full of beauty.

The deep "hums" and rhythmic undertones provide the roots on which Pergolizzi floats and dances atop. The artist also showcases her wide vocal range on this track with her feisty, confident lower register opening the song, and becomes vulnerable with her crystal clear upper register as the song progresses.

"Muddy Waters" is full of progression; it never stops moving and drawing. We can listen to this song and be completely entranced, which is why we can picture it in a Game of Thrones/Lord of the Rings type of epically glorious battle.

We are beyond excited to hear LP's next full-length album, and encourage you to check out the rest of her repertoire and hope that you will love it as much as we do. TO get all of the latest updates from this rising star, follow her on social media and check out her personal website.
