Spotify Reveals New Partners

Written by

In an effort to keep pace with the exponential growth and immense change in the music industry, Spotify has announced its long-awaited video and podcast partners.

The list of U.S. partners and shows includes content from Viacom, VICE media, NBC, BBC, and Harper Collins, among many others. This new content will be released first to Android users, with an iOS update expected shortly after. The service will initially be free, in order to give users more reasons to stay engaged with the company.

Once updated, you will find a "Your Library" icon that replaces "Your Music", where you will still ee the familiar options plus a new item labeled "Shows". Further expanding that leads to "Featured Shows" which will include the partners mentioned above, plus even more video and audio. Viewers can find material from Ellen DeGeneres and the Disney empire, and the podcasts Stuff You Should Know, Freakonomics Radio, and more.

Music supervision, or matching music to all the different mediums from films to ring tones, is one of the fastest-growing careers in the music industry, but finding the winning song for a national ad campaign or compiling a platinum movie soundtrack takes more than just good taste. Music supervision today requires serious multi-tasking and the ability to navigate licensing, relationships, and cultural trends with ease. This book guides you through real scenarios and legal landmines you might encounter; it explores sound design and profiles key players with insightful interviews, while providing project form templates that will save time for seasoned music supervisors.

This is the only guide to the career of music supervision and is ideal for the music student, musician, industry executive and of course, for those who want to break into the field of music supervision.
