The Pixies recently released their first full-length album in twenty-three years, you can imagine fans were overjoyed. Capitalizing on the nostalgic/retro (depending on your age) vibe from the album’s release, Apple found a unique way to promote not only themselves, but also promote the album and engage a younger demographic in its latest ad campaign.
Billboard reports that “The minute-and-a-half commercial follows people building the [Pixies] song using predominantly recording or music-making features, with previews of apps for video games, photography, even exercise and language translation.”
Leave it to Apple’s brilliant marketing team(s) to launch such a cool, creative, and unique campaign. Although while Billboard believe’s it’s an attempt for Apple to reinvent itself, we think the sync placement and creative construction are wicked cool.
