Super-cool LA music house, HUM, specializes in “original scoring, licensing, and sound design” for some of the biggest names in advertising including Kia, Honda, Toshiba, Pepsi, Wells Fargo and many more. Last week’s newsletter shared that they’ve been doing some exciting stuff and we wanted to give highlights!
They recently completed an ad for Hyundai featuring a collaborative track from HUM’s “in-house sound designer, Dan Hart, and one of [their] favorite orchestral masters residing across the pond.” The spot, says HUM, “needed music and sound design to match the precision performance of the Hyundai Genesis at [Germany’s famed] Nordschleife.” You can see their work here.
Switching gears a bit, HUM composer Kristin Ryrud recently “released a solo album recorded and mixed” at HUM, and the album’s “breathtaking cover of Fleetwood Mac’s ‘Everywhere’...just hit #2 on the iTunes charts in Kristin’s home country of Norway.” You can check out the album on iTunes!
Finally, HUM’s in-house “performance space and speakeasy,” A&R Bar, has been used in Google’s new augmented reality game that is--according to the developer’s president John Hanke-- “A little bit J.J.Abrams, a little bit geo-caching and a little bit World of Warcraft.”
The game, entitled “Ingress,” which launched in beta mode in November, makes “the world Google’s game board,” and is slowly becoming more widely accessible. Read more about Ingress on USA Today, and request an invite on the game’s website, but first watch A&R Bar’s cameo here.
